Fossil Fern 2

I originally made 5 studies from exploring some fossils of ferns found in 'Bath Royal Institute of Science and Literature' for a project that Bath Textile Artists were involved in for an exhibition in October 2023. I sold two at the event, here are the other 3.

I have created and prepared papers and fabrics by painting them and stitching into them, I then collaged these fabrics to create a background fabric. I then stitched into this collage with free machine embroidery and hand stitch.

Fabric includes silk organza, 2 x types of linen cloth, fine cotton and a heavier cotton with a breakdown printed pattern.  

Papers include cartridge paper with sketches of the ferns.

The embroidery measures 16cm x 23cm and the mount is size A 3 uk standard size, 29.6cm x 41.6cm The mount can be trimmed down by yourself or a framer if you wish it to fit a different sized frame.
