ORIGINAL EMBROIDERY
If you walk down Walcott Street in Bath you will find a wall with some very small stone faces carved in it, this carving of a woman's head caught my eye. I love Walcott Street, they have a fab wool shop where I buy some of my yarns that I couch into my work.
My embroidery incorporates fabrics that I hand dyed and printed using inspiration from a museum in Bath with fossilised ferns. The face is done by hand stitching silk organza into place. The flowers are appliquéd and stitched in free motion. The border is a fine strip of cork that I bought in a wonderful wool shop in Germany last year.
My embroidery measures 36cm square, the frame measures 46cm square. it is a white wooden frame, glazed.
