MOUNTED TEXTILES
These works of art are handmade, using a variety of fabrics, from, linens, cottons, wools, some will be hand dyed, some ripped, manipulated and shredded fabrics. Some include hand painted tissue paper and other hand painted or printed papers. They are bonded and stitched using my Juki sewing machine in both straight stitch and free motion embroidery, the trees are done using a stitch called whip stitch.
I have used many sewing threads, cottons, rayon's and wools, in many thicknesses to add interest, texture and variety.
Some textile pieces will have hand stitching on them or drawn marks.
They are mounted onto acid free top quality mounts with a backing board projected by cellophane that can be composted.
The embroideries are 4 inches x 4 inches, the mounts are 12 inches x 12 inches but could be cut down to a smaller frame if you wished.
The textile works are inspired by the Staffordshire landscape that surrounds my home in Whitgreave.
