This workshop is being organised by Zig Zags in Newport, Staffordshire so you will need to book directly with them here.
The workshop takes place on Wednesday 20th September from 10am - 4pm and costs £45. Click here to visit Zig Zag's website to book.
About the workshop
On this course you will spend the day creating your own textile piece, using your own choice of design. The workshop is suitable for those who have done some sewing but would like to learn how to do free-motion embroidery, and also those who would like to improve their free-motion embroidery skills.
I will be teaching a variety of techniques that you will be able to use to create your design. There will be plenty of design inspiration available for you - I have a library of design ideas all inspired by British wildlife. You are also welcome to bring your own designs with you.
You will spend the morning learning different techniques from my demonstrations, then putting them into practice. After lunch you will make your finished piece.
What to bring - please read!
All fabrics will be supplied but feel free to bring your own thin fabrics if you have a particular colour scheme in mind. Thin fabrics include cottons such as patchwork and quilting fabrics or shirt material.
Please bring your sewing machine, general sewing kit, sharp scissors and an embroidery hoop. You will also need to have a sewing machine where the feed dogs can be lowered to enable free-motion stitching, as well as a darning/embroidery foot for your machine.
A general sewing kit comprises spare bobbins, spare needles (machine and hand sewing), thread, small scissors for cutting thread, pins and a tape measure.
If you don't have a sewing machine, please let Zig Zags know at the time of booking and they will sort it out for you.
