About the workshop
On this course you will spend the day at The Corner Patch creating your own textile piece to take home at the end of the day.
This workshop is suitable for those who have done some sewing but would like to learn how to do free-motion embroidery, and also those who would like to improve their free-motion embroidery skills.
I will be teaching a variety of techniques that you will be able to use to create your design. There will be plenty of design inspiration available for you - I have a library of design ideas all inspired by British wildlife.
You will spend the morning learning different techniques from my demonstrations, then putting them into practice. After lunch you will make your finished piece.
Sewing machines are available to use but you may bring your own if you wish.
What to bring
Please bring a general sewing kit, sharp scissors and an embroidery hoop. If you want to bring your own design ideas please do so. If bringing your own machine, you will also need to be able to lower the feed dogs to enable free-motion stitching, as well as a darning/embroidery foot for your machine.
A general sewing kit comprises spare bobbins, spare needles (machine and hand sewing), thread, small scissors for cutting thread, pins and a tape measure.
All fabrics will be supplied but feel free to bring your own thin fabrics if you have a particular colour scheme in mind. Thin fabrics include cottons such as patchwork and quilting fabrics or shirt material.
I will have a supply of fabrics, threads and design ideas that you will be welcome to use!
Places cost £40 each. Please contact The Corner Patch directly to book:
